Top 5 - Worst Most Unnecessary Movie Remakes
Either Hollywood is running out of ideas or they just don’t care anymore. With Hollywood running out of ideas, movie remakes have become a go-to option for filmmakers. While some remakes are successful, there are some that have been panned by critics and audiences alike. These movie remakes have been criticized for their lack of creativity and originality. From poorly executed adaptations of classic films like "Psycho" and "The Wicker Man" to unnecessary sequels like "Independence Day: Resurgence" and "Terminator Genisys", there have been plenty of terrible remakes that have graced our screens over the years.
Here are my Top 5 worst recent movie remakes:
5. Psycho - 1998 The Vince Vaughn/Anne Heche remake adds nothing new. It’s even worse in color than the glorius black & white. Being shot-for-shot, just watch the original.
4. Total Recall - 2012 Yes the original has some bad practical and special effects. Yes, Arnold is too…Olympian, to be an everyman. But the remake, despite the really nice cinematography, is just a mess.
3. Point Break - 2015 You take Keanu Reeves as an F…B…I agent and Patrick Swayze as a bank robbing surf guru who probably really like each other, take a super sky diving stunt and you have action movie perfection. Well, perfection might be a bit strong, but much better than the crappy remake some 25 years later.
2. The Day the Earth Stood Still - 2008 Left halfway through. The original is a fun film released in the middle of the cold war. The remake tried to do too much with too little, and it shows.
1. Hellboy - 2019 No disrespect to Hopper, who is a great actor, but Ron Perlman will forever be Hellboy to me. Think I might have enjoyed it more had it been a sequel rather than a reboot.
What movies did they remake that you didn't like and belongs in the bin?
