Top 5 - Best Songs That Peaked at #11
Your a band or a musician. You’ve worked your tail off touring, promoting, pressing the flesh, as it were. You’ve endured sleezy club owners, sleezy promoters, sleezy record execs. You’ve almost made the top of the pops with one of your babies, but alas, never to be. A song that stalls at #11. Here are my Top 5 choices of songs that got stuck at #11:
5. Head Over Heels - The Go Go’s
Hard partying 80’s girl rock! Yes! How was this one not a #1?
4. Baby I Need Your Loving - The Four Tops
I can’t tell you how in love with the Motown sound I am. Temptations, Miracles, Jackson 5. The Four Tops always stood out to me as the best of the best.
3. Wild World - Cat Stevens
A soulful ode to a break up with a long time lover. Got the feels and the sing-alongs. Such a great song.
2. Take The Money & Run - The Steve Miller Band
Whoever doesn’t clap along in the two clapping parts, not sure we can be friends. This one peaked at number 11, right in between three #1’s in The Joker, Rock'n'Me, and Fly Like An Eagle.
1. Tired of Being Alone - Al Green
He went on to have three straight top 5 hits right after this one, which, by the way, is ranked as the number 293 on Rolling Stones Top 500 songs of all time!
There are several others I could’ve added to this list. Shoulda, coulda, woulda. What did I get wrong?
