Top 5 - Worst Sitcom Characters
A good show has a heel. A great show has a superb heel. The heel is the worst person on the show that creates strife for the rest of the characters. The kind of bad guy that lies to, cheats on, conspires against, or otherwise just makes life a difficult mess for all the other characters. Even with funny results, they still suck. Here are my Top 5 worst characters in a sitcom.
5. Louie De Palma - Taxi Louie was a walking, talking ad for workplace harassment lawsuits. Whether making the cab driver’s lives hell, cheating them out of their fairs, or peeking into the women’s bathrooms, the guy was a giant sleaze in a half pint body.
4. Frank Burns - M.A.S.H. Frank never did that much damage, but we’ve all had that mediocre boss that was bossy for no other purpose than they could.
3. Harriet Olson - Little House on the Prairie She would be known as a Karen today, a nosey busy-body that not only is up in everybody’s business, but looked down her nose and all.
2. George Costanza - Seinfeld To say he is a major-league asshole is a bit of an understatement. Creating fake charities, skimping on wedding invitation envelopes that cause death, and caring only about himself…maybe his friends.
1. Dan Fielding - Night Court A gross sex addict that doesn’t try to hide it. Even in the 80’s, Dan would have been an HR nightmare and would have brought a few lawsuits to bear.
I’m not saying these characters weren’t funny or genius. I’m only saying as real people, they would be awful.
Who’s on your list of worst sitcom characters? Erkel? Ted?
