Top 5 - Best R&R Hall of Fame Performances

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a divisive organization that people either hate or tolerate. There are so many bands/artists that have not received their due, bands like Iron Maiden and Deep Purple, while some inductees take a bit of thinking that they are in, such as rap and country artists. All the inductees are mostly deserving, but there probably needs to be a review and an open induction for all those that have been passed over. Smooth things out.

One of my favorite things about the Hall in the induction ceremonies, seeing the artists on stage, the music, the drama, the nostalgia. The best part of all is the performances throughout the night and the usual all star jam that brings the house down at the end of the night. Here are my favorite all time HoF performances:

5. Rockin' in the Free World (2017) - Neil Young was supposed to induct Pearl Jam into the hall, but he was too ill to show up. Instead, Pearl Jam played his legacy song, along with Journey's Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon, Rush's Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, and Yes' Trevor Rabin and Dhani Harrison, not too mention original drummer, Dave Krusen, sharing a kit with Matt Cameron.

4. Train Kept A-Rollin (2009) - When Jeff Beck got enrolled, he brought up former band mate (Yardbirds) Jimmy Page, along with Flea, Joe Perry, Ronnie Wood, and Metallica blew the roof off with that multi band hit.

3. Roll Over Beethoven (1986) - An over six minute long jam during the induction of Chuck Berry, with the man himself, “The Killer” Jerry Lee Lewis, Keith Richards, Neil Young, Steve Winwood, John Fogerty, Billy Joel and even Phil Everly. Best part, they look like they are having an absolute ball!

2. Born on the Bayou (1993) - John Fogerty teamed up with Bruce Springsteen and Robbie Robertson, trading solos and verses. Sad it couldn’t be with his original rhythm section, but made for great TV.

1. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (2004) - When George Harrison was getting posthumously inducted as a solo artist , Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Dhani Harrison came together to play the Traveling Wilbury's Handle With Care. Then Prince appeared and blew away and dazzled the crowd with his guitar solo on the former Beatles’ song.

Did I get this list right? Did any stand out to you or do you remember these? Go to YouTube and watch. Which would you pick?
